Njeri Illustrated. Your City... Illustrated. It is a popular independent cinema located on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, with a history stretching back over 100 years. Inspiration: This legendary 1930s Art Deco style Dalston cinema opened as the Kingsland Empire in 1915. The venue was given a makeover and reopened as the Classic in 1937. It became the Rio in 1976 and is now one of the few genuinely independent movie houses in London. This greeting card would make a lovely gift for all cinema and Hackney lovers!
