The exciting history of STAUD can be traced back to 1653. During the time shortly after the turmoil of the Thirty Years War, Matthäus Staud opened a joinery in Saulgau, which he built into a well-functioning business with great perseverance and craftsmanship. The love of woodcraft has been handed down from father to son for over 10 generations. The transition to industrial production was finally initiated due to the entrepreneurial decision to build a second factory on the “green field”. This was the start for the production of sliding door wardrobes. The decommissioning of the chipboard production took place in 1994. The merging of the factories and the administration at one location in 2005 was a far-reaching business decision. In 2010, the company was sold to new shareholders due to lack of succession. Martin Staud GmbH has been part of the Vivonio Group since 2012. In 2018, a new hall for the production of bedroom furniture was built and put into operation in Bad Saulgau. With this expansion of production capacities, we now supply more than 20 European countries with STAUD quality furniture. The new production facility is equipped with state-of-the-art photovoltaic technology to consistently support the ecologically sustainable production of our furniture.
