YouTube to move into video commerce as it aims to become shopping platform
YouTube is launching a holiday stream and shop livestream event as it aims to fulfil ecommerce ambitions. The move will see YouTube creators sell a combination of their own merchandise and select brands directly through the platform. Usually, the platform is used as a portal to explore products and conduct research before purchasing the item in question on other websites such as Amazon or Ebay.
Selfridges ponders selling off ecommerce operation
Selfridges has pondered selling off its ecommerce operations, according to Bloomberg. The company has considered the opportunity of a possible spin off of the ecommerce arm, which is less lucrative than its property holdings division. The company’s wider sale price is expected to be approximately $4 billion when its controlling Weston family eventually decides who will buy the firm.
