Barbiecore taps into the nostalgia and frivolity that many are seeing in a post-lockdown world.
From runways to room renovations, bright pink is dominating the lifestyle and design space right now. With the Barbie movie on the horizon but not due for release until next year, it looks like we’ll all be donning shades of pink for some time yet.
The culmination of several other trends and design shifts – like the influence of Y2K and dopamine dressing – Barbiecore taps into the nostalgia and frivolity that many are seeing in a post-lockdown world.
Earlier this year, iconic fashion house, Valentino, partnered with colour authority, Pantone, to create a brand new shade – Pink PP. Shifting away from their signature red, Valentino then went on to showcase 48 looks made up entirely of the new, captivating pink hue at their Autumn/ Winter 22-23 Paris Fashion Week show. Styles influenced by this collection are now making their way to the high streets and finding fans at all price points. In interiors, it’s clear that Millenial Pink, which has been incredibly popular in the last 5 years is going nowhere for a while. Paired with the rounded, soft shapes that customers are loving in furniture design and interior accessories, the Barbicore style helps consumers create their own lifesize versions of their ‘dream house’.
