TRENDS: Tobacco Brown

As a neutral, this shade has long taken a back seat to other hues, but this trend has us asking if brown is the new black?

Predicted for major a come back by Gudy Herder in 2018, in 2021 shades of brown are being seen everywhere from clothing and cosmetics to interiors and accessories. Dulux named Brave Ground as their colour of the year, and French Vogue declared it was time to say goodbye to all-black silhouettes.

A departure from the steely greys and cool whites that have dominated in previous seasons, this style is all about warming things up. Known for creating feelings of comfort, cosiness and sincerity within colour psychology, brown also taps into our desire to be more connected to nature; reminiscent of the bare earth with organic tones that calm whilst still making an impact.
