January Furniture Show
19-22 January 2025
Co-founders of Pl Studio, Sabrina Panizza and Aude Lerin, joined us at January Furniture Show to talk through up-and-coming interior trends and share the driving forces behind each one. Whether it’s in product design, styling or promotion, a better understanding of these influential styles will help furniture designers and sellers, and lifestyle retailers captivate and excite their customers.
Trend: Nature & Textures
The influence of nature-inspired textures, tones and motifs has become exceedingly popular for two reasons in recent years. Firstly, the pandemic increased our desires to connect and be inspired by the natural world, so interior design has evolved to create ‘inside out’ spaces where possible or employs clever ways to evoke feelings of nature even in fully closed spaces. Secondly, as sustainability becomes a growing area of concern and interest for most, designers are looking to use green materials in more innovative, exciting ways than ever before.
Microtrend: Venetian plaster and limewash
Bringing an added interest to neutral spaces, Venetian plaster and limewash are expected to be a popular microtrend for the new season. Bringing the perfect balance of luxury as well as a sense of abstract effortlessness, it’s of little surprise that people who love all different types of styles are leaning into this look.
Trend: Vintage & Antique
In an effort to be both more sustainable and unique, customers are turning to the second-hand market at an increasing rate. Designers can take inspiration from the past for new collections, implement upcycling or expand their offering to include vintage pieces alongside new-season ones.
Trend: Sculptural and carved furniture
Bringing added interest and artistic flair to any space, sculptural and carved furniture is a trend we’ll be seeing lots of in the new season. Bringing influence from a second trend, reference to the ‘60s and ‘70s can be seen strongly here.
Trend: Bold Colours & Patterns
Adding a dash of dopamine to interior schemes, the inclusion of bold colours and patterns has become increasingly popular following a period locked in our homes. Optimism, excitement and joy sit at the heart of this trend.
